Two makers of distinctive designs for cycling have teamed up on a new bag to help you roll into spring in style. The Ally Capellino x Tokyobike collaboration joins the London-based fashion accessories brand with the Japanese bicycle maker, both known for refined styles that appeal to a contemporary urban sensibility.
The backpacks, which transition easily from your ride to the next stop, are exclusive limited editions based on the Ally Capellino Frances rucksack. They come in three colors — blue gray, ivory and mustard — which match Tokyobike colors, and have been fortified with bike-friendly features that include water-resistant nylon fabric, a reflective strip on the exterior front pocket and a loop for bicycle lights. A lightly padded inner sleeve with a fastener helps keep a 13-inch laptop secure. The back of the backpack is also padded and the webbing straps are adjustable for comfort on the ride.
Alison Lloyd, founder of Ally Capellino, which has three retail stores in London and ships internationally from its web store, has been on the London fashion scene for more than 30 years. In 2012, she added bike bags to her collection of timeless bags, totes, rucksacks and small accessories for women and men. The unisex bike bag line comprises backpacks, messenger-style bags and panniers, mostly constructed of waxed cotton in classic colors.
Tokyobike, an independent bicycle company based in the Yanaka suburb of Tokyo is focused on enjoyment of the urban journey on two wheels (read: comfort over speed). The company opened a permanent NYC outpost in Nolita last year. In addition to showcasing its eye-catching line of bicycles, plus stylish cycling accessories from a variety of brands, the Tokyobike store stocks well designed products for home and lifestyle in a gallery-like setting. (The new backpacks are due in-store next week.)
