Spoked Salmon? Bookman’s New Collaboration

As the days grow shorter, it’s important to remember lights for a safe ride home. That’s where easy-on, easy-off Bookman bike lights come in. With a distinctive minimalist design that resembles a Lego block, the bright, single-LED lights attach to a handle bar or seat post with the snap of an integrated rubber band and are easy to toss into a purse.

For an added pop of color this fall, the company has collaborated with the Canadian girl bike gang and design collective the Deadly Night Shades on limited-edition, manicure-matchable hues that include Seafoam, Velo Yellow and Spoked Salmon. We first encountered the signature look of the Deadly Night Shades (below), know for “sustainable design, along with general mischief,” at the 2011 Bicycle Film Festival, where their shortfilm Fabric Bicycle was screened.

The water-resistant lights operate in three modes — slow flashing, fast flashing and steady. A large button makes them a cinch to activate, even while wearing winter gloves.
