Your NYC Cycling Events Agenda:
New! August 30 – Sept. 1, Bike Cult Hand-Built Bicycle Show
Bicycles, say the organizers of this new show, are more than efficient vehicles for transportation. They are “profoundly aesthetic as a personal fashion statement.” Bike Cult, held in Greenpoint’s Warsaw Polish National Home “where perogies meet punk,” is your opportunity to worship at the alter of made-to-order bicycles in all their burnished glory and refined detail. More than 20 exhibitors from the Northeast will be exhibiting, including Brooklyn-based Horse Cycles (photo above). Our favorite bicycle artist Tahliah Lempert is one of the show judges. Information.
On the horizon:
September 8: T.A.’s NYC Century Bike Tour
September 21: NYCC’s Escape New York Ride, Bergen and Rockland Counties
September 27 and 28: ArtCrank Poster Show by NYC Artists
September 29: Bike New York’s Twin Lights Ride, Monmouth County, NJ

Scenes from the Annie Londonderry Women’s Ride at Summer Streets:
Congrats to sponsors WE Bike NYC and Bicycle Habitat. We hear that the turnout for the Annie Londonderry women’s ride on August 10 was so large that it kicked off in three waves to “ease” into the traffic flow on Lafayette. Thanks Ayesha McGowan of WE Bike NYC for capturing the joy!
Finally, if you’re vacationing next week, we wish you miles of safe and carefree cycling joy to end the summer! We’ll see you back here after Labor Day. (Photo: @velojoy instagram feed. Follow us.)
