The day we’ve all been waiting for — NYC bike share launch — has finally arrived! Citi Bike rolls out today (Memorial Day 2013) for a week of preview rides for annual members and on June 2 to the public. With 6,000 bright-blue bikes available for check-out from 330 stations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, New Yorkers have got a brand-new transit option that’s accessible, efficient, economical, green and, above all, FUN. What’s particularly exciting is that the ease and convenience of bike share will attract a new contingent of riders, even further embedding cycling into our everyday experience of the city.

If you’re a Citi Bike annual member, it’s a great day to celebrate with your first bike share ride. With a 31-bike station across the street from my apartment, I plan to take my first official spin with my husband and neighbors. Tell us about your first trip in the comments section!
