Didn’t make it to Paris Fashion Week? Neither did we. But we found a petite getaway in a Paris bicycling video by Mary Clerté that celebrates the luxury trunk and leather-goods maker Moynat. We can practically smell the croissants and hear the whisper of the Seine in this charming meditation on the City of Lights entitled Parisian Promenade, further embellished with whimsical Art Deco animations based on drawings from the recently-revived heritage label’s archives.
The back story of the brand proves rich as well. The company was founded in 1849 by Pauline Moynat, the only female trunk-maker in Paris. Acclaimed for her award-winning designs, Moynat went on to invent the handbag in 1880 for turn-of-the-century actress Gabrielle Rejane. The bicycle in the video is kitted out with Moynat’s hand-made trunk and picnic basket known as the Malle Bicyclette. Enjoy your virtual mini vacation — it’s a reminder that any bike ride can be a local adventure. (H/T Language Dept.)
