As the Summer Olympic Games approach, Opening Ceremony’s latest design collaboration takes an athletic turn. The innovative retailer, whose flagship is located on Howard Street in Manhattan, has teamed up with Adidas Originals for a capsule collection inspired by cycling and swim gear, but with a ’90s street-style twist. The line, a nod both to the Olympics and launch of Opening Ceremony’s first London store, features signature bandana prints, plus florals and watercolor-like patterns, and uses some technical fabrics such as spandex and neoprene. What could be more appropriate from a retailer whose international, multidisciplinary concept draws upon the mission statement of the modern Olympics? You won’t find a chamois in the shorts above, but there’s style to spare. The apparel and footwear collection debuts in early July.
