On a bike ride on Manhattan’s Upper West Side this week, I spotted this sign of spring at the base of the landmark Soliders’ and Sailors’ Memorial Monument at Riverside Drive and 89th Street. With unseasonably warm temperatures in February, it’s easy to understand how these daffodils might have been lured into an early bloom.
